Tar Heels Host ITA Kick-Off Weekend Action

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The third-ranked UNC men's tennis team will host three strong opponents Saturday and Sunday in ITA Kick-Off Weekend competition at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. In addition to the Tar Heels, men's teams competing in Chapel Hill are Drake, No. 17 Michigan and No. 20 South Carolina.
The Wolverines and Gamecocks open the men's action at 9 a.m. Saturday, and UNC meets Drake at 12:30 p.m. The losing teams play Sunday at 9:30 in the consolation, and the winning teams meet at 1 p.m. for a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship Feb. 16-19 in Seattle.
There is no charge for admission to Cone-Kenfield, and there are plenty of perks planned for fans. On Saturday, there will be free pizza during UNC's match. On Sunday, there will be free Jersey Mike's sandwiches during the championship match and Rameses will make an appearance.
Additionally, on Saturday fans can enter a raffle to win one of two free tennis rackets. The Tar Heels will raffle an additional racket on Sunday, and one lucky fan will win a pair of tickets to the UNC-Duke men's basketball game on Feb. 8 in Chapel Hill.

UNC is one of six sites hosting both men's and women's matches. On the women's side, the fifth-ranked Tar Heels are hosting Illinois, William & Mary and Winthrop, with matches on Friday and Saturday.
