First Round Suspended Due to Rain, Tar Heels in Eighth

WILMINGTON, NC – The first round of play was suspended following 15 holes of the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club at Landfall Dye Course. As it currently stands, North Carolina is 15-over-par as a team and tied for eighth overall.
The round was suspended for just over two hours during the round between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. before resuming for roughly 10 more holes of golf.
Senior Kelly Whaley led the way for the Tar Heels shooting 2-over thru 15 holes and is tied for 15th overall. Jennifer Zhou had a very up and down round, with two birdies and two double bogeys through her first six holes before settling in and currently sitting at 3-over. Nicole Lu and Mariana Ocano are both 5-over and Brynn Walker is 7-over.
Overall, the Tar Heels lead all teams with 10 birdies so far.
The first round will resume Saturday at 10 a.m. and will be immediately followed by a shotgun start for the second round, playing with the same pairings as the first round.
