#1 UNC Too Much For NC State

CHAPEL HILL - No. 1 North Carolina opened Atlantic Coast Conference women's tennis play with a 5-2 win over 37th ranked NC State on Wednesday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center outside courts.
No. 32 Jessie Aney won the deciding match on court five, 6-3, 6-3, over Amanda Rebol to keep the Tar Heels unbeaten in 2018 with a perfect 12-0 record.
No. 15 Makenna Jones waisted no time in a 6-0, 6-0, victory over Bianca Moldovan and No. 93 Alexa Graham quickly made it 3-0 Tar Heels after a 6-2, 6-2, win over Taylor Bridges.
NC State (4-6, 0-1) took its first point when No. 113 Anna Rogers upended No. 8 Alle Sanford on court one.
After Aney clinched the match, Tayla Stenta outlasted Chloe Ouellet-Pizer 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (13) on court six.
No. 28 Sara Daavettila wrapped up the match with a straight-set victory on court three over No. 94 Claudia Wiktorin.
The doubles point was tightly contested on all three courts. In fact, the Tar Heels trailed in each match in the early going. However, momentum slowly shifted in favor of Carolina as time went on. Court one went to No. 9 Aney and Grahamover 12th ranked Wiktorin and Rogers, 6-4.
Moments later, No. 20 Daavettila and Sanford clinched the opening point, 6-3, over Moldovan and Rebol on court two.
UNC returns to the court this Sunday to host No. 7 Vanderbilt at 1 p.m.
