Tar Heels Wrap Up Day One Of Virginia & Duke Meets
April 20, 2018 | Track & Field
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va./DURHAM, N.C. - The University of North Carolina's Blake Dodge clocked an outdoor personal best in the women's 800 meters and the women's 4x100 won the event on the first day of the Virginia Challenge at Lannigan Field Friday. The Tar Heels also completed the first day of competition at the Duke Invitational in Morris Williams Stadium this evening.
Dodge, a senior from Beaufort, N.C., used a strong final 200 after losing position ahead of the final turn of the 800 meters to finish third in the event and register an outdoor personal best of 2:07.25. That time is also good for sixth in the ACC and it is just two tenths of a second off of her lifetime best.
The women's 4x100 squad of Brianna Duncan, Katlin Sherman, Anna Keefer and Cierra Dunston once again clocked sub 45 on the track after running the fifth-fastest time in school history last weekend (44.29). The group ran 44.73 to win their heat and ultimately finish with the fastest time of the day in the event.Â
Over at the Duke Invitational, the highlight came from senior Casey Greenwalt, who set a lifetime best in the women's 1,500 meters for the third-straight meet, running 4:33.83.
The majority of the Tar Heels set to compete will hit the track tomorrow as the Virginia Challenge resumes at 10:30 a.m. and the Duke Invitational resumes at 10 a.m. Similar to today, the Virginia Challenge will break at 3:35 p.m. and resume at 7 p.m. with the main events.
