#3 Carolina Eases Past VCU, 4-0

CHAPEL HILL - No. 3 North Carolina triumphed over VCU on Saturday afternoon with a solid 4-0 win at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center during ITA Kickoff Weekend.
To start off the match, the duo of Jessie Aney and Alle Sanford dominated on court two winning, 6-1. Makenna Jones and Cameron Morra, who are ranked No. 2 in the nation, sealed the doubles point on court one, 6-1.
The first singles point came courtesy of Morra on court four, 6-1, 6-1. Trailing closely behind, Aney finished on court six, 6-4, 6-1, just seconds before No. 4 Sara Daavettila wrapped up play on court two, 6-1, 6-3, to make it 4-0.
In the first match of the day, Michigan State put up a good fight against Princeton, but came up short in the end, losing 4-2.Â
The consolation match will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday between Michigan State and VCU. Afterwards, Carolina will play Princeton in the championship match at 1 p.m. The winner advances to the 2019 ITA National Team Indoor Championship Feb. 8-11 in Seattle Washington. The Tar Heels are the defending national champions.Â
Admission is free on Sunday at Cone-Kenfield.Â
