Robinson Named EAGL Specialist of the Week

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Carolina junior Mikayla Robinson was named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League Specialist of the Week for Week Four after her performance against NC State on January 25, 2019. Robinson is the first Tar Heel to receive a Weekly Award from the EAGL during the 2019 season.

In Friday night's meet, Robinson scored a career-high 9.900 on vault to place tied for first with teammate Khazia Hislop. This score topped her previous career high of 9.850 set in the 2018 EAGL Championships last March. The first place finish was the first time Robinson has placed first on vault in her career.

Robinson also competed in floor exercise, scoring a season-high 9.825. Placing third on floor, tied with fellow Tar Heel Madison Hargrave, Robinson earned her highest finish of the season on floor.

This is Robinson's second EAGL Specialist of the Week Award in her career. Last season, Robinson was named Specialist of the Week for Week 3 of the 2018 season after setting then-personal records of 9.800 on vault and 9.900 on floor.
