Sophomore Had a Win and a Third Place Finish
Carolina sophomore Ryan Burnett is the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for September.

The Lafayette, Calif., native shot 69-65-64 to capture his first collegiate title at the Turning Stone Tiger Invitational in Verona, N.Y. in UNC' first tournament of the season. He became only the fourth player in UNC history to score under 200 in a 54-hole event, winning the event in 18-under-par 198. The 18-under-par and 198 total are the second-best scores in school history.

Burnett finished third at the Rod Myers Invitational at Duke, shooting a 9-under-207. He also recorded a tie for 17th at the Olympia Fields Country Club/Fighting Illini Invitational, which featured 11 ranked teams.Â

Burnett began the season with five consecutive rounds in the 60s and six of his nine rounds in September were under par.
