CARY, N.C.—The University of North Carolina's Simon Soendergaard and Mac Kiger came from behind to win a thrilling ITA Carolina Regional doubles championship on Monday afternoon, beating Furman's Jake Bhangdia and Jake Munns in the final at the Cary Tennis Center.

After losing the first set, 6-7 (4), Soendergaard and Kiger won the second set, 6-4, and the third by a score of 10-7.

The Tar Heel duo ripped off six consecutive wins at the regional, improving to 47-9 in their career as a doubles team at UNC and stepping into the limelight after playing No. 3 singles and going 22-3 during the 2018-19 season.

With their championship, Soendergaard and Kiger qualify for the 2019 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, to be held on Nov. 6-10 in Newport Beach, Calif.
