Carolina Wraps Up Fall Schedule

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The North Carolina women's golf team wrapped up their fall slate with a 12th-place finish at the Landfall Tradition. After consistent round-to-round performances, the Tar Heels totaled 24-over 888 with three rounds of 8-over 296.
Sophomores Jennifer Zhou and Nicole Lu led their teammates each day of competition with both carding 1-over 73 in the first two rounds. Zhou finished in a tie for 13th with a 1-over total of 218 following her 1-under 71 performance in the final 18 holes. Lu tied for 26th with another 1-over 73 round to total 3-over 219 in tournament play.
Freshmen Kayla Smith and Krista Junkkari found themselves in a similar scoring pattern, each carding 3-over 75 in the first two rounds. In the final round, Smith kept her consistency with another 3-over 75 round to tie for 52nd (225) while Junkkari carded 5-over 77 to tie for 55th (227).
Junior Ava Bergner ended the tournament 25-over-par with a total 241 after rounds of 84-77-80.
Senior Mariana Ocano represented the Tar Heels as an individual and tied for 73rd with a 15-over-par 231 and rounds of 77-767-78.
North Carolina will return to competition in 2020 with the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Fla. from Feb. 17-18.
