Graham To Compete At International Tennis Competition
October 30, 2019 | Women's Tennis
North Carolina senior women's tennis standout Alexa Graham has been selected to represent Team USA at the 2019 BNP Paribas International Collegiate Team Competition in Grenoble, France, from Nov. 29-Dec. 1.
Graham, who also participated in the 2019 U.S. Pan American Games in Peru this past summer, joins Hayley Carter (2016) and Alle Sanford (2017) as the only three players in Carolina women's tennis history to compete in this prestigious event.
Team USA is out for a repeat at the 2019 event and in search of its ninth title in the 14th edition of the annual tournament.
The six players named to represent the team are Graham, a 2019 singles All-American and two-time doubles All-American, Jada Hart, a senior at UCLA, and Michaela Gordon, a junior at Stanford.
On the men's side, Aleks Kovacevic (Sr., Illinois), Alexandre Rotsaert (Soph., Stanford) and Keegan Smith (Jr., UCLA) have earned a place on Team USA.
Team USA stalwart and former Boise State men's coach Greg Patton returns to travel with and coach the team, alongside UCLA women's associate head coach Rance Brown.
Billed as "the world event of university tennis," Master'U is college's answer to Fed Cup and Davis Cup. Each team match consists of two men's and two women's singles matches, one women's and one men's doubles match, and a mixed doubles match. The competition started in 2006, with the host nation France winning the first two editions.
During the event, complete results from each day of play can be found by visiting the Master'U BNP Paribas website.
