To Direct Operations, Outreach and Leadership Development
The University of North Carolina men's and women's golf teams have added Dr. Scott Grant as director of operations, outreach and leadership development, head men's coach Andrew DiBitetto and head women's coach Jan Mann announced today.
Grant spent the last 15 years in different roles in the high school and college ranks as a teacher, head golf coach and director of athletics and facilities. He's served as an operations and marketing director of collegiate golf camps, while building a junior golf tournament series from the ground up.
For the past seven years, Grant has been a full-time faculty member in the college of business at The University of Findlay (Findlay, Ohio), teaching leadership and marketing courses, while also directing an innovative student run agency, @TheOiler10. Grant has worked with over 200 different organizations and schools over the past three years through his leadership development consulting organization – Triple Threat Leadership, LLC.
"Having Dr. Grant join our family is a big time win for Carolina Golf," says DiBitetto. "I've known Scott for about a decade, and while his background and resumé are diverse and impressive, what truly stands out about Scott is who he is as a person. He is passionate, energetic, positive, detail oriented and caring. He excels in building relationships and impacting people, and uniquely sees things in others they may not yet see themselves. Scott's life motto is to add value, build relationships and create opportunities. That's exactly what he will do for our student-athletes, coaching staffs, supporters and golf programs. We are thrilled Scott, his wife Elizabeth (a registered nurse), and their twin sons, Paxton and Knox, are Tar Heels."
"Scott is the perfect fit for the director of operations position," says Mann. "He has experience in so many areas — graphic design, social media, golf and higher education. He will greatly contribute to our fundraising, recruiting and student-athlete development efforts and allow the coaching staffs to focus on coaching. We know Scott's family was an incredibly important part of his decision, so I have no doubt he will fit right into our team's family culture."
A native of Continental, Ohio, Grant graduated from Findlay with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. He earned a master's in business administration with an emphasis in sport & event management while serving as the graduate assistant for the Oilers athletic department. In 2017, he completed a doctorate in leadership & policy studies from Bowling Green State University (Bowling Green, Ohio).
"My family and I are beyond thankful to the Carolina administration and coaches for the opportunity to become part of the Tar Heel golf family, and assist them in building incredible young men and women on and off the golf course. Throughout the entire process, I've been beyond impressed by their leadership, and continued focus on creating an environment with high standards, and a sincere passion for overall program and personal development."
