Carolina Picks Up Road Win At Michigan, 5-2

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The second-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels traveled to Ann Arbor on Sunday to take on the 27th ranked University of Michigan. The Tar Heels beat the Wolverines 5-2 and improved their record to 13-1.
The Tar Heels enhanced their doubles record to 14-0 today with victories on court two and court three. No. 16 Alexa Graham and Jessie Aney grabbed a quick win on court two, 6-1. Sara Daavettila and Alle Sanford fought hard on court three to clinch the doubles point, 6-3.
Aney wasted no time in singles play, winning her match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3, to give the Tar Heels a 2-0 lead. Michigan quickly responded and tied the match 2-2. No. 6 Daavettila dropped back-to-back sets on court one, 6-1, 6-2. On court five, No. 122 Sanford was in the midst of a comeback after losing the first set, but Michigan's Alyvia Jones did not allow that to happen and took down Sanford, 6-3, 6-3.
No. 5 Graham gave North Carolina the lead again after winning a tiebreaker in the second set on court three, 6-4, 7-6 (3). Makenna Jones started off slow in her first set, but came back and won in a tiebreaker. After that, Jones never looked back and clinched the match, 7-6 (6), 6-1.
On court three, Cameron Morra expanded the lead to make it 5-2. Morra won both sets 7-6 (3), 6-2.
North Carolina moves on to ACC play for the remainder of the season. The Tar Heels will travel to Raleigh on Wednesday to take on the NC State Wolfpack. North Carolina will be back at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center this Friday, March 1, against Notre Dame at 3 p.m. Admission is free.
