DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina men's fencing team finished 3-2 in Saturday's Duke Meet action, with both losses coming to top-10 squads. The Tar Heels earned wins over Air Force, Boston College and Johns Hopkins to improve to 23-14 on the season.

UNC opened with a 15-12 win over Johns Hopkins, powered by a 8-1 advantage in sabre.

In Round 2 the Tar Heels earned another win, 16-1 over Air Force will all three weapons winning.

UNC faced host Duke in Round 3, falling 19-8 to the sixth-ranked Blue Devils.

After the lunch break Carolina was matched with another tough opponent in No. 4 Penn State. The Nittany Lions won all three weapons en route to a 22-5 win.

The Tar Heels wrapped up with a victory, though, beating Atlantic Coast Conference rival Boston College 16-11 in the fifth and final round of competition.

Competition continues at Duke Sunday as the women fence. Action begins at 8 a.m.
