Carolina Regains No. 1 Ranking

North Carolina regained its footing as the No. 1 ranked women's tennis program in the nation according to this week's Oracle/ITA Division I rankings release.
North Carolina (24-1, 12-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who has spent the entire season in the top 3 nationally, was second each of the last two weeks after a four-week run at No. 1 between Feb. 26 and March 19.
The Tar Heels are enjoying a 15-match winning streak heading into this weekend's final two matches of the regular season that will take UNC to Georgia Tech on Friday and Virginia Tech on Sunday.
Two victories would give Carolina its third unbeaten record against the ACC in the last five seasons going back to 2015, and the sixth occurance in program history.
Senior Jessie Aney entered the singles rankings for the first time in 2019 to give Carolina five ranked players this week. Juniors Makenna Jones and Alexa Graham come in at No. 5 and 6, while classmate Sara Daavettila remains 12th.
Freshman Cameron Morra, the four-time ACC Freshman of the Week honoree, is No. 36, while Aney rounds out the rankings at No. 125.
The doubles was mostly unchanged as Morra and Jones remain No. 6 and Aney and Graham moved up one place to No. 7.
