Tar Heels Set For World Team Trials

CHAPEL HILL --- Three members of the UNC wrestling program will be competing at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh this weekend for a chance to represent the United States at this year's World Championships. Assistant coach Tony Ramos will be competing at the World Team Trials Tournament alongside Brandon Whitman and Jaime Hernandez, who will be wrestling in the Junior Men's Freestyle Trials.
Ramos, who qualified for the Trials at the U.S. Open in April, is competing at 61kg for a chance to earn one of the remaining 30 spots to Final X in June. Final X is a best-of-three series that will determine who makes the 2019 World team.
Whitman (92kg) and Hernandez (61kg) will be wrestling in the Junior Trials for a chance to go to the Junior World Championships in Estonia in August.
