Carolina Sweeps SCSU In NCAA First Round

CHAPEL HILL - Top ranked and No. 2 overall seed North Carolina picked up a 4-0 victory over South Carolina State in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Women's Tennis Team Championship from Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
North Carolina (30-1) extended its winning streak to 21 matches, and reached 30 wins in a season for the fourth time in the last five seasons. The Tar Heels will host Oklahoma on Sunday in the second round of the tournament at 1 p.m. OU outlasted Winthrop, 4-3, in a match that lasted more than three hours.
The Tar Heels made quick work of the doubles portion of the afternoon with a pair of 6-1 victories. First off was Alle Sanford and Sara Daavettila on court three, and minutes later No. 2 Jessie Aney and Alexa Graham secured the opening point.
Carolina carried its momentum into singles. No. 20 Daavettila, No. 7 Graham and Alle Sanford all won within minutes of each other to make it a clean sweep for the Tar Heels.
