Burnett and Martin Earn Accolades
Senior Joshua Martin of Pinehurst, N.C., and freshman Ryan Burnett of Lafayette, Calif., were named to the 2019 Academic All-ACC team for men's golf. It is the second time Martin has earned the distinction.
Burnett is planning to major in business administration; Martin completed his degree in exercise and sports science. Both were starters for the Tar Heels, who finished 19th at the NCAA Championships. Carolina is one of two ACC schools to finish in the top 20 at the NCAA Championship in the last two seasons.
Martin played in 40 tournaments as a Tar Heel, playing in the NCAA Championships twice. He earned honorable mention All-America honors as a junior.
Burnett was third on the team this season in stroke average (72.14). He set the UNC record for best score ever in an NCAA regional when he shot 7-under-203 at Stanford and tied for 30th at the NCAA Championship.
