Three Tar Heels Named to All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three members of the UNC women's golf team have been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Golf Team for the 2018-19 season, the ACC announced Wednesday. Brynn Walker, Kelly Whaley and Jennifer Zhou were selected for the All-ACC Academic Team, which recognizes outstanding academic and athletic performance.

Walker is a rising senior from St. David's, Pennsylvania, who is majoring in Media and Journalism.

Whaley is a Farmington, Connecticut native who graduated with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science.

Zhou is a rising sophomore from Kunming, China who is majoring in Business Administration. Additionally, Zhou is one of 12 student-athletes who also earned all-ACC honors this season.
Duke's Virginia Elena Carta wrapped up her collegiate career as the ACC Scholar-Athlete of the year. Carta, who helped lead the Blue Devils to the 2019 NCAA title, is a four-time All-ACC Academic honoree and a four-time All-ACC selection. She is one of just 20 golfers in NCAA history to win both an NCAA team title (2019) and an individual national championship (2016).  Majoring in Environmental Sciences and Policy, Carta has been named a Women's Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar all four seasons at Duke. Â
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
