Dahnweih Joins Wrestling Freshman Class
July 23, 2019 | Wrestling
CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina wrestling has added Illinois prep standout Blah Dahnweih to the 2019-20 freshman class, head coach Coleman Scott announced Tuesday.
Dahnweih comes to Chapel Hill out of DeKalb High School, where he went 48-1 in his senior season. His lone loss came in the Class 3A state championship match, earning a runner-up finish after a third-place finish in his junior season.
"I can't express how excited I am to have Blah join this program," Scott said. "He hasn't been wrestling his whole life, but he's shown that he can compete at this level. He's going to fight right away and make us better on the mat and off of it. He's going to surprise some people in Chapel Hill and across the country."
On FloWrestling's final senior big board released in April, Dahnweih was ranked 93rd overall and 11th at 197 pounds.
