Tar Heels Set To Kick Off Fall At Gamecock Fall Classic

CHAPEL HILL—The University of North Carolina men's tennis team will open its 2019 fall campaign this weekend at the Gamecock Fall Classic in Columbia, S.C. The event begins on Friday and runs through Sunday with matches each day starting at 9 a.m.
Carolina's Brian Cernoch, Mac Kiger, Josh Peck and Simon Soendergaard are slated to participate in singles matches beginning on Friday morning.
Tar Heel doubles teams include Cernoch paired with Peck and Kiger with Soendergaard.

Meanwhile, UNC freshman Rinky Hijikata is competing this week at the ITF Fayetteville Futures. Hijikata won his first-round match on Wednesday, defeating Kiranpal Pannu, 6-7, 6-2 and 6-4, fighting off four break points at 5-4 in the third set. He will face Alec Adamson in the second round.
