Carolina Returns To No. 1 In Latest Rankings

CHAPEL HILL - Just days removed from winning the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, North Carolina is back at No. 1 in the most recent Oracle ITA National Team Rankings, released on Thursday.Â
The Tar Heels registered a 4-0 shutout of UCLA in Monday's finale in Chicago for the fourth indoor national title in program history, all coming since 2013 under the guidance of head coach Brian Kalbas.
According to the latest rankings, Carolina has already defeated No. 2 UCLA, No. 5 NC State, No. 6 Duke, No. 12 Michigan, No. 15 Vanderbilt and No. 18 Arizona State this season.Â
UNC's ACC slate will include the Wolfpack, Blue Devils and No. 4 Florida State, No. 13 Virginia, No. 17 Georgia Tech and receiving votes Wake Forest.Â
After sitting at No. 2 in the rankings over the first three ranking periods of the season, UNC takes over the top spot for the first time since last May. That marked the last of seven ranking periods where Carolina was No. 1 during the 2019 season.Â
North Carolina (10-0) returns to the friendly confines of Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center to host a doubleheader on Saturday against East Carolina at 11 a.m. and Charlotte at 4 p.m.
