Commemorative Poster Celebrates Carolina-NCSU
February 23, 2020 | General
CHAPEL HILL—In support of an on-campus artist collective (Galore), UNC Licensing, Athletics Marketing and Galore partnered together to develop a commemorative poster to celebrate the history of the series between North Carolina and North Carolina State designed by UNC student Madison Buttonow.
Posters will be distributed to the first 500 fans that enter the Smith Center for the game versus the Wolfpack on Tuesday night at 9 p.m. There will also be a limited number available as a gift-with-purchase at in-venue concessions for the remaining fans.
Galore is a student-driven concept store that empowers UNC student artists to profit from their talent in both digital and retail environments. It works to remove the barriers that block creativity from daily life while building an inclusive and collaborative community around the arts.
"The UNC Athletics department is always looking for new and innovative ways to create an electric gameday atmosphere," says Alexis Barlow, Carolina's director of sports marketing. "After learning about the student group, Galore, we identified a unique opportunity to enhance the game experience while highlighting a UNC student's art."
Buttonow is a UNC student originally from Greensboro. As a junior set to graduate early in 2020, Buttonow is involved on campus as a Special Olympics soccer, basketball, and swim coach. She has also worked with UNC football in the realm of Sports Medicine and is headed to UNCG Athletic Training Masters program in May.
