15 Tar Heels Named To EAGL All-Academic Team

DURHAM, N.H. (March 23, 2020) – The East Atlantic Gymnastics League announced the AllEAGL Academic Team for the 2019 calendar year on March 16th . The league has cancelled the remaining meets and championships for the 2020 season amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
This year's academic team is comprised of 90 gymnasts, three more than last year's total of 87. In order to qualify for the All-Academic team, a gymnast must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher throughout the 2019 calendar year. Freshman are eligible with the Fall 2019 semester grades only.
George Washington University led the way with 17 student-athletes on the EAGL All-Academic team. The University of Pittsburgh added 16 student-athletes to this list, while the University of New Hampshire, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina each had 15 student-athletes. Towson University followed close behind with 12 student-athletes qualifying for the All-Academic team.
