Burnett and Gerard Earn All-Region Honors

Had Two Lowest Stroke Averages
University of North Carolina sophomore Ryan Burnett and junior Ryan Gerard were named to the PING Division I All-East Region team.
Burnett (71.45) and Gerard (71.82) concluded the season with the lowest and second-lowest career stroke averages in Carolina men's golf history. Burnett averaged 70.21 strokes in eight tournaments (five in the fall, three in the spring), which unofficially is the lowest in UNC history. Gerard averaged 71.08, which unofficially was the second lowest in UNC single-season history.
Burnett won the Turning Stone Invitational, tied for second place at Notre Dame and the General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach and tied for third at Duke. The Lafayette, Calif., native was among 10 golfers on the Haskins Award watch list. He shot a combined 28 under par in 24 rounds over the season.
Gerard finished in the top seven five times in eight starts, including second at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Hawai'I, tied for fourth at Turning Stone and Notre Dame and seventh at the Golf Club of Georgia Invitational and the General Hackler Championship. The Raleigh, N.C., native was 7 under for the season.
The duo combined to shoot 25 rounds under par and 20 rounds in the 60s.
Burnett and Gerard are among 28 players from Atlantic Coast Conference teams to earn all-region honors.
