Three Tar Heels have been selected to participate in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum, an annual event that brings together student-athletes from NCAA member schools to learn about and explore potential careers in sports, with a focus on collegiate athletics.
Â
Carolina juniors Megan Dray (softball), Juliana Micchia (rowing) and Mary-O Soule (swimming & diving) were picked for the program. All hope to have careers in sports after graduating from UNC.
Â
Dray, from Lynchburg, Va., is majoring in business administration. She hopes to work in sports marketing after graduation.Â
Â
Micchia, from Wake Forest, N.C., is working toward a double major in political science and peace, war & defense. She hopes to work in sports marketing, sports consulting and/or collegiate athletics administration.Â
Â
Soule, from Asheville, N.C., is majoring in sports administration. She hopes to work in sports marketing or event planning.
Â
This year's forum, scheduled for late May, will take place virtually and include speakers on a wide variety of topics including self-awareness and its role in professional development; practical approaches to the sports job search; personal branding; and developing a career plan. Through panels, breakout sessions, presentations and discussions, program participants will gain a thorough understanding of athletics as a career path.
