Five Tar Heels Named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Brynn Walker, Mariana Ocano, Jennifer Zhou, Kayla Smith and Krista Junkkari have earned the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American honors for the 2019-20 season, the WGCA announced Monday.
This the fourth honor for Walker and Ocano, the second for Zhou and the first for Smith and Junkkari. All five Tar Heels were also named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll earlier this month.
From St. David's, Pennsylvania, Walker is returning for a fifth year and is majoring in media and journalism. A St. Petersburg, Florida native, Ocano graduated with a degree in business.
Zhou is a rising junior from Kunming, China. Both rising sophomores, Junkkari from Kouvola, Finland and Smith is from Burlington, North Carolina.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
