College Colors Day Is Friday Sept. 4
August 31, 2020 | General
CHAPEL HILL – Ahead of the highly anticipated return of college football, and in preparation for College Colors Day on Friday, September 4, Tar Heel fans everywhere are encouraged to unite in their fandom and support their local Feeding America® member food bank through a partnership with Wells Fargo and CLC that helps provide 100 meals* for each purchase of new fan gear.
Â
The 16th annual College Colors Day, which was created by UNC's exclusive licensing partner, CLC, is a national holiday that provides UNC fans across the country the opportunity to showcase their unmatched passion and school spirit by showing off their pride on social media using the hashtag #CollegeColorsDay.  This year, Wells Fargo is teaming up with CLC to drive awareness on the issue of hunger in America and help communities in need in the Triangle area. For every purchase of officially licensed UNC merchandise at shop.goheels.com from August 10 – September 4, Wells Fargo will help provide 100 meals* to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina or the Food Shuttle, members of the Feeding America network.Â
Â
This year's College Colors Day theme, "United We Fan," emphasizes the power of togetherness that shared college fandom delivers even though fans might be physically apart. College football is ingrained in the American culture, and nothing can take away that unique, emotional bond between fans of the same team. While the college football season might look different this year, the unity and pride of college fandom will be stronger than ever.Â
Â
"Even though UNC fans may not be able to gather in person for College Colors Day this year, they will be able to join forces to positively impact local communities thanks to the partnership and incredible support of Wells Fargo for Feeding America member food banks," said Nicole Armentrout, Vice President, Marketing at CLC. "By supporting UNC and purchasing team gear, fans can show their school spirit and unite in helping people in need during these uncertain times,"Â
Â
Fans are encouraged to follow UNCÂ Athletics' social media accounts to see messages about the College Colors Day program and help provide meals to their local Feeding America member food bank by visiting the shop.goheels.com to make qualifying purchases during the campaign.Â
Â
"Wells Fargo has a strong history of supporting the local communities we serve, and we are excited to bring together the passion of college fans and the mission of Feeding America to help provide much-needed meals to college communities," said Pamela Batalis, VP, Sponsorships & Brand Engagement, Wells Fargo Marketing.Â
Â
Nothing unites fans like the pride and passion they have for their college, and College Colors Day puts that passion on full display on September 4. Fans are encouraged to wear their college colors this year to celebrate the community of fans and alumni that make their schools so special because "United We Fan."Â

Â
* From 8/10/20 to 9/4/20 for every College Colors Day purchase, Wells Fargo will donate the monetary equivalent of 100 meals to Feeding America®. Wells Fargo guarantees a minimum donation of 10,000 meals (monetary equivalent of $1,000) and a maximum of 2 million meals (monetary equivalent of $200,000). $1 helps provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks.
