GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina's Aranza Vazquez has been named ACC Women's Diver of the Week.
Vazquez won five diving events last week at the Virginia Tech Diving Invite and the dual meet against NC State. The freshman from La Paz, Mexico, won the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions in both meets, and won on platform in the Virginia Tech Invite.
She is unbeaten in three competitions since joining the Tar Heels in December.
Vazquez joins teammate Emily Grund as women's diver of the week honorees this season, while Anton Down-Jenkins has won the award twice on the men's side.
Carolina returns to the pool for a pair of home meets this weekend. The Tar Heels welcome conference foe Virginia on Friday and non-league South Carolina on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled for streaming on ACC Network Extra.
