Men's Tennis #2 In Latest ITA Poll

CHAPEL HILL—North Carolina's men's tennis team held fast at No. 2 in the latest Oracle ITA rankings, released on Wednesday by the ITA.
The Tar Heels, who were ranked No. 2 in the ITA preseason poll, opened its 2021 season with a pair of wins earlier this week in the ITA Season Kickoff. On Sunday, Carolina shutout Northwestern, 4-0, in the first round of the North Carolina Regional. On Monday, UNC beat No. 20 South Carolina, 4-1, to advance to the quarterfinal round, to be held Feb. 12-14 in Champaign, Ill.
USC remained No. 1 nationally, taking 10 of 11 first-place votes. Carolina got the other first-place vote and is No. 2. TCU takes over at No. 3, a spot vacated by Ohio State who were knocked out of Kickoff Weekend by then-No. 22 Virginia. Texas moved up two spots to No. 4, while Stanford remained at No. 5.

Moving into the top 10 are Baylor (previously No. 15), Virginia (previously No. 22), Texas A&M (previously No. 11), and Tennessee (previously No. 13).
