Ergood Co-Champion at Elon Phoenix Invitational

University of North Carolina senior Dougie Ergood fired a bogey-free, 7-under 64 to earn a share of medalist honors Tuesday at the Elon Phoenix Invitational at the Alamance Country Club in Burlington.

Ergood finished the tournament 10-under-par 203 in a tie with Elon's Pedro Rabadan and Appalachian State's Jake Lane. The 64 is the best round of Ergood's career.

The share of the title is Ergood's first collegiate win. He is the third Tar Heel to win a tournament this season and the third to win their first collegiate title. In September, fifth-year senior Ryan Gerard won the Rod Myers Invitational at Duke and junior Austin Greaser won the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational.

Ergood shot 70-69 in Monday's first and second rounds, and went out in 3 under today on the front nine. The Mount Laurel, N.J., native then birdied the 10^th, 12^th, 15^th and 17^th holes to finish 10 under.

Lane birdied five of the last seven holes and Rabadan birdied the 17^th to also finish 10 under.

Carolina's George McNeely shot 1-under 70 today to tie for 15^th place at 3-under 210. Kenan Poole tied for 27^th at even par.
