Former All-America and ACC Champion Wyland Inducted in PWCA Hall of Fame

CHAPEL HILL – Former two-time All-America and two-time ACC Champion Doug Wyland was inducted into the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association (PWCA) Hall of Fame on October 17. He was a part of a class of 15 combined from the 2020 and 2021 classes.
The Pennsylvania native was a star wrestler at UNC, winning a pair of Atlantic Coast Conference titles in 1989 and 1990. He also became a two-time NCAA All-America. Wyland advanced to the 1989 NCAA finals but lost to East Stroudsburg's Jack Cuvo to finish second. In 1990, Wyland finished fourth at 118 to become a two-time All-America for the Tar Heels. He completed his collegiate career with a 74-4 record.
Dr. Douglas Wyland, MD, is currently a doctor primarily located in Greenville, SC, with other offices in Spartanburg, SC, specializing in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine.
