Men's Tennis In Action At ITA Regionals In Cary

CHAPEL HILL—Members of the University of North Carolina men's tennis team will be in action this weekend in nearby Cary for the ITA Division I Men's Carolina Regional championship. Duke University is hosting the four-day event, set to run from Friday through Monday at the Cary Tennis Park.
The Tar Heels are expected to have eight players in action this weekend: Brian Cernoch, Mark Dillon, Casey Kania, Mac Kiger, Chris Li, Peter Murphy, Anuj Watane and Logan Zapp.
Two years ago in Cary at this event, Simon Soendergaard and Mac Kiger came from behind to win a thrilling ITA Carolina Regional doubles championship, beating Furman's Jake Bhangdia and Jake Munns in the final at the Cary Tennis Center.Â
After losing the first set, 6-7 (4), Soendergaard and Kiger won the second set, 6-4, and the third by a score of 10-7. The Tar Heel duo ripped off six consecutive wins at the regional.
