Women's Tennis Dominates Day Two Of ITA Regionals

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The North Carolina women's tennis team had a successful second day at the ITA Carolina Regional Championships. The Tar Heels placed four singles players and four doubles teams into the quarterfinals at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
No. 2 seed and 32nd ranked Cameron Morra and No. 4 seed Carson Tanguilig have advanced to the quarters in the singles main draw one. Morra will face No. 8 seed Elizabeth Coleman from Duke, while Tanguilig takes on Duke's Margaryta Bilokin. Both matches are scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m.
In the main draw singles two, top seed and 35th ranked Fiona Crawley will go up against No. 8 seed (52nd ranked) Anna Campana of Wake Forest, while No. 6 seed and 78th ranked Anika Yarlagadda faces Wake Forest's Casie Wooten.
In the main draw doubles one bracket, top seed Morra and Tanguilig will take on Wake Forest's sister duo of Anna and Carolyn Campana, who are ranked No. 38 in the country. Meanwhile, Kacie Harvey and Yarlagadda have Campbell's DeSpain and Louka in Saturday's quarterfinals.
No. 4 seed Crawley and Elizabeth Scotty will take on Campell's Mayorova and Medvedeva in the main draw two bracket, while No. 2 seed and 15th ranked Alle Sanford and Reilly Tran are paired up with No. 7 seed Quiterio and Schech from Charlotte.Â
The regional champions will earn invitations to compete at the 2021 ITA National Fall Championships being held Nov. 4-7 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.
Tran has already qualified in singles for the fall championships by virtue of winning the Milwaukee Tennis Classic title earlier this fall.
Day three of regionals begins on Saturday morning with singles quarterfinals at 9 a.m.Â
