Greaser, Gerard Lead Men's Golf In Round 2 At Blessings

Greaser Tied for Third with 18 Holes to Play
Ryan Gerard and Austin Greaser shot 3-under-par 69s to lead the University of North Carolina to the third-best round of the day at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational presented by Tyson Foods Tuesday at the Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
It was the second straight 69 for Greaser, who is tied for third place in the individual standings at 6-under 138, three strokes behind the leader, Luke Long of Arkansas. The Vandalia, Ohio, native has shot in the 60s in each of his last five rounds.
Carolina was 10 shots better in the second round than in Monday's first 18 holes. The Tar Heels shot 6-under 282 today to move up two spots to fifth place, nine strokes behind host Arkansas, which made three birdies on the 18th hole to finish 1 under for the day and 11 under for the tournament. Illinois is second (-10), Ole Miss is third (-9) and Tennessee fourth (-7).
The Illini had the best second round at 8 under, the Volunteers shot 7 under, while the Tar Heels and Ole Miss were six under today.
Carolina was 12 under on its round through 16 holes and had climbed to within six shots of the lead, but counted six strokes over par on the 17th and 18th holes.
Gerard bounced back from an opening-round 76 to shoot 69. Peter Fountain posted a 1-under for the second straight day, despite a bogey-double bogey finish. Ryan Burnett shot 73 and David Ford had a 74.
The third and final round of the Blessings is Wednesday. Live coverage on the Golf Channel begins at 4 p.m.
