Gerard is ACC Men's Golfer of the Month

Ryan Gerard was named the ACC Men's Golfer of the Month for September. The fifth-year senior won the Rod Myers Invitational at Duke and tied for seventh at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational. He averaged 68.50 in six rounds and helped the Tar Heels with both tournaments.

The Raleigh native birdied the 17th and 18th holes to win at Duke by two strokes for his first collegiate title. He made a 20-footer on the 17th to regain a one-shot advantage, and on the 18th hole hit his approach to five feet and made the birdie putt for the two-shot victory. Gerard's 15-under 201 total (67-66-68) matched the lowest score in tournament history. His 15-under-par total tied the fifth best in UNC history and his 201 total equaled the seventh best.

At Olympia Fields North, Gerard provided a pair of birdies over the final five holes to help UNC hold off Arizona State for the win. He shot 69-68 over the final 36 holes to finish even-par 210.

Gerard finished the month ranked No. 4 in the country by Golfweek.
