Sanford/Tran Reach Quarters At ITA All-Americans

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - The North Carolina doubles team of Alle Sanford and Reilly Tran picked up a pair of wins on Thursday at the ITA All-American Championships from the LTP Tennis Club.
Ranked No. 15 in the nation, Sanford and Tran won by identical 8-2 scores in their two matches, including a win over No. 33 Kit Gulihur Ana Paula Melilo of North Florida that propelled them into Friday's quarterfinal round.
The UNC tandem will face Old Dominion's No. 57 Tatsiana Sasnouskaya and Yuliia Starodubtseva tomorrow at 2 p.m.. The ODU duo knocked off the top seed in the draw from Oklahoma in the second round.
Earlier this week in the singles draw, No. 35 Fiona Crawley came up a victory short of reaching the Main Draw. Crawley reached the third round of qualifying, before dropping just the second singles match of her collegiate career to South Carolina's Sarah Hamner, the top rated newcomer this season according to the ITA, by a 7-6 (2), 6-1 score.
Crawley picked up a pair of top 50 wins in the opening rounds over No. 34 Bronte Murgett of Missouri and No. 48 Abigail Rencheli of NC State.
No. 78 Anika Yarlagadda knocked off No. 66 Morgan Coppoc of Georgia in the first round, while No. 32 Cameron Morra fell to No. 64 Marlee Zein of Florida in the opening round.
