Tar Heels Earn Two Titles At Wolfpack Wrestling Club Open

CARY, N.C. – Two North Carolina wrestlers were crowned Wolfpack Wrestling Club Open champions on Sunday, with Lachlan McNeil (141) and Mason Phillips (149) earning the honor.

In an event hosted by NC State, the Tar Heels competed against wrestlers from Campbell, The Citadel, Duke, King University, Limestone, Newberry, No. 5 NC State, Seton Hill, UT-Chattanooga, UNC Pembroke, Virginia, and No.7 Virginia Tech at Cary Academy for an individual tournament. The host N.C. State Wolfpack took home six championships (133, 157, 165, 174, 184, 197), the most of any team, while the Tar Heels earned two. Virginia Tech and Campbell each claimed one title.

No. 13 North Carolina will travel to No. 10 Nebraska on Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET to face the Cornhuskers. The match will be streamed on Big Ten Network Plus.
