November 23, 2021 | Wrestling
CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina Tar Heel Kizhan Clarke was named ACC Co-Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday afternoon following a perfect dual week. He's the first UNC wrestler this season to bring home the award.
Clarke tallied six dual points for the Tar Heels, the first three against No. 10 Nebraska. The graduate student picked up his second straight sudden victory in a 3-1 bout with No. 5 Chad Red Jr. The victory was the highest-ranked win of his career. It was also his first ranked win since Dec. 19, 2019, when he defeated No. 15 Kanen Storr of Michigan while competing for American University.
The Tampa, Fla., native's second win came over Shannon Hanna of Campbell on Sunday night. The first two periods were scoreless, but Clarke used two takedowns and an escape to win the bout 6-1.
Clarke currently sits at 5-0 on the season, with many duals remaining on the Tar Heel schedule.
