Crawley/Scotty Reach ITA Fall Nationals Title Match

SAN DIEGO - Fiona Crawley and Elizabeth Scotty of the North Carolina women's tennis team have advanced to the Main Draw Doubles championship match after winning two contests on Saturday at the 2021 ITA Fall National Championships from the Barnes Tennis Center.
Crawley and Scotty ousted the sixth seeded Texas duo of Kylie Collins and Charlotte Chavatipon in the quarterfinals. Scotty and Collins faced off in the 2021 NCAA Doubles National Championship match that went in favor of the Tar Heels this past May. Today, both had different playing partners, but Carolina once again came out on top, 7-6 (2), 6-3.
In the semifinals, the fourth seeded tandem from UNC squeezed out a first-set win in a tiebreaker, then rolled over Alicia Herrero Linana and Meg Krywoj of Baylor in the second set to reach the national title match by scores of 7-6 (7), 6-1.
Crawley and Scotty never played together before they won the ITA Carolina Regional title last month in Winston-Salem, N.C. Now 9-0 on the season, the Tar Heel duo will take on third seed and 57th ranked Tatsiana Sasnouskaya and Yuliia Stardubtseva of Old Dominion on Sunday with the winner crowned a national champion.
No. 8 seed Cameron Morra and Carson Tanguilig were tripped up in their quarterfinal bout against Sasnouskaya and Stardubtseva, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (6).
