GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 2021 ACC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship came to a close on Saturday from the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

North Carolina placed eighth in the team standings with 516.5 points.

Junior Grace Countie, who finished third in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday, finished sixth in the 100-yard freestyle with an NCAA B cut time of 48.87, the fastest time any Tar Heel has swam in the event this season.

Sophomore Amy Dragelin placed 14th in the 200-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 1:57.29.

Senior Allie Reiter finished 18th in the 200-yard breaststroke with an NCAA B cut time of 2:12.84, the second fastest swim at Carolina this season.

Ellie Vannote was 17th in the 200-yard butterfly and teammate Caroline Cooper was 20th in the same event.

The 400-yard freestyle relay squad of Countie, Dragelin, Brieanna Romney and Lexi Rudolph clocked in at 3:19.15 to finish sixth.

UNC's diving standouts Anton Down-Jenkins and Aranza Vazquez each earned Most Valuable Diver honors. Down-Jenkins won the gold medal in both the 1- and 3-meter events, while Vazquez took first in the 3-meter and platform events and a silver in the 1-meter.

The ACC Men's Swimming Championship gets underway next week in Greensboro. Behind the strong diving efforts of the Tar Heels this past week, Carolina heads into the men's championship atop the leaderboard with 214 points.
