Welcoming Our Fans Back to Chapel Hill
February 25, 2021 | General
Dear Carolina Family,
Â
We've missed having you at our events this season, cheering on our student-athletes and teams and enjoying the camaraderie of being on campus. At long last, we're pleased to tell you that beginning this weekend, we are able to welcome more of you back. Under NC Executive Order 195, outside stadiums will be allowed 30 percent capacity and indoor arenas with at least 5,000 seats will be allowed 15 percent capacity beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26.
Â
This means that we will be able to welcome a limited number of fans to our Men's Basketball, Baseball, Women's Lacrosse and Men's Lacrosse games this weekend -- and to more sports competitions as they compete at home in the future.
Â
Our staff has worked closely with the University and local health officials to formulate a plan that will continue to emphasize community standards. Visitors will be required to sit at least six feet apart, masks will be required, and everyone is expected to continue to do everything they can to keep each other safe. Our priorities will continue to be allowing family members of student-athletes and coaches, as well as Carolina students, into our arenas. We also have worked to include opportunities for faculty, staff, Rams Club members and sponsors to attend different sporting events when possible.
Â
Here's how it will work:
For our final two home Men's Basketball games, Saturday vs. Florida State and March 6 vs. Duke, approximately 75 percent (about 2,400) of the available tickets will be reserved for Carolina students via the student lottery system. Other ticket blocks will be available to the families of student-athletes and coaches, health care workers from UNC Hospitals and a small number of donors (The Rams Club will reach out directly to donors who will have an opportunity to attend). No tickets will be available for sale. More information will be shared with students very shortly from our Ticket Office about the lottery, and we are excited to be able to invite so many Tar Heel students back to the Smith Center.
Â
Beginning tomorrow, February 26, single-game tickets will be on sale for the Baseball game vs. Virginia on February 27, the Men's Lacrosse game vs. High Point on February 27, and the Women's Lacrosse games vs. Duke and Vanderbilt on February 26 and 28. Additional games, including Men's and Women's Soccer, will go on sale next week. Â An allotment will be reserved for students. In addition, a limited number of seats for students and the general public will be available at regular-season Field Hockey games, Softball games, Volleyball matches, Gymnastics meets, and Men's and Women's Tennis outdoor matches this season. These seats may be claimed at the respective event, based on availability. Fans are also welcome at our Men's and Women's Golf and Rowing events.
Â
We hope that as the number of people affected by COVID-19 decreases around our state and country, we will be able to welcome more of you back. Our staff continues to do everything we can to make our venues safe and welcoming for our students-athletes, coaches, staff and you.
Â
I hope to see many of you soon at one of our competitions. Whether you are cheering us on in person or from home, please know how much we appreciate your support!
Â
Go Heels!
