Record Day For McArthur At VT Elite Meet

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Senior Daniel McArthur set a North Carolina indoor track & field record in the shot put Saturday as the Tar Heels wrapped up Day 2 of the Doc Hale VT Elite Meet at Virginia Tech's Rector Field House. McArthur, a fifth-year student-athlete from Mooresville, N.C., recorded a throw of 20.59m (67-6 ¾ ) to win the event and establish a new personal best.
McArthur's throw is the third-longest in the NCAA this season.
Aside from McArthur, just two other Tar Heels were in action at the meet on Saturday.
In the women's high jump, sophomore Sydney Banks tied for fourth with a jump of 1.71m (5'7 ¼ ).
Freshman Isaac Young competed in the men's 200m, placing 23rd in 24.52.

The Tar Heels return to action this weekend, competing at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C., on Friday and Saturday.
