Fountain, Greaser Lead UNC with 72s in 2nd Round
Myrtle Beach, S.C. – University of North Carolina men's golfers Austin Greaser and Peter Fountain shot a pair of even-par 72s on Monday and sit sixth and tied for ninth, respectively, after the second round of the V1 Sports General Hackler Championship at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club.
Greaser is 5 under par, five strokes off the lead of NC State's Maximilian Steinlechner. Fountain is two shots farther back at 3 under.
Carolina dropped one spot to third place after the second round. NC State surged to the lead with a 10-under-par 278, while the Tar Heels shot 5-over 293 in round two.
The Pack leads at 19 under, 10 strokes ahead of North Florida. Carolina is next at 6 under, Louisville is fourth (-3) and Kent State is fifth (-2).
UNC's Austin Hitt and Ryan Burnett are tied for 17th place at even-par 144. Dougie Ergood is tied for 30th at 2 over.
The third and final round is Tuesday.
