Cunningham Update On Spring Sports Fan Attendance

Dear Tar Heels,
Hope the beginning of Spring finds you safe and well! It has certainly been fun to welcome fans back to Chapel Hill over the last month, and we want to give you an update about capacity at our Athletics venues as we prepare for the home stretch of our sports seasons.
Yesterday, Governor Cooper issued NC Executive Order 204, which eases COVID-19 restrictions and will allow up to 50 percent capacity in athletics arenas – with mandatory physical distancing of six feet apart for ticketed groups. The six-feet physical distancing requirement means that the capacities at our venues will not significantly change at this time. We currently can fill about 22 percent of our seats in each of our venues with six-feet distancing, and we will continue to prioritize ticketing family members of student-athletes and coaches, as well as Carolina students. We also will continue to work to include opportunities for faculty, staff, Rams Club members and sponsors to attend different sporting events when possible.

We ask that everyone continue to remain diligent and follow safety precautions and Carolina Community Standards. Masks will remain mandatory in all of our venues and facilities, seats must be assigned and ticketed, and physical distancing will be required. Let's continue to do all we can to keep each other safe.
As the number of people affected by COVID-19 continues to decrease across our state and country, we hope restrictions will continue to ease and we will be able to welcome even more fans back. Thank you to all of our staff members who continue to work to make all of our venues as safe as possible for all of us – and thank you to all of our fans, who continue to support us in person and from afar.
