North Carolina Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham and Malaika Underwood, a Tar Heel volleyball alumna, member of the USA Baseball Women's National Team and Senior Vice President at OneTeam Partners, co-authored an opinion piece that was published by the Sports Business Journal on May 31. In it, they make a strong case that the best first step to compensate college student-athletes for their name, image and likeness is group licensing. It is the ideal solution, they state, because it allows college student-athletes and their schools to work together and benefit together.
