Crawley, Tran Reach Singles & Doubles Finals In Milwaukee

Tar Heel teammates will go head-to-head in singles final and play together in doubles
MILWAUKEE, Wisc. - North Carolina sophomore tennis players Fiona Crawley and Reilly Tran have yet to lose a match this weekend at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
Unfortunately, one of them will have to lose in Monday's singles final because the Tar Heel classmates will face each other in the title match with the winner earning a wildcard entry into the 2021 ITA National Fall Championships.
To add another twist to the story, Crawley and Tran will play together in an attempt to win the doubles title against Oklahoma's sister tandem of Carmen and Ivana Corley, the No. 1 ranked team in the nation.
Crawley and Tran defeated No. 7 Bronte Murgett and Marta Oliveira of Missouri, 6-2, in the doubles semifinal.
In singles, No. 35 Crawley upended No. 60 Ivana Corley in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 6-7 (0), 6-4, and later beat No. 81 Naomi Cheong from Southern Cal, 6-3, 6-2, in the semis.
No. 88 Tran took down No. 39 Carmen Corley, 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, in the quarters and then won, 7-6 (5), 6-2, over No. 56 Eryn Cayetano of Southern Cal.
An ITA Gold Level Event, the Milwaukee Tennis Classic features a 32-player singles draw, and a 16-team doubles draw. Men's and women's singles champions earn a wildcard entry into the 2021 ITA National Fall Championships, to be held November 4-7 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, California.
