September 20, 2021 | Women's Tennis
MILWAUKEE, Wisc. - North Carolina sophomore tennis players Fiona Crawley and Reilly Tran won the Milwaukee Tennis Classic doubles championship on Monday morning from the Western Racquet Club.
The Tar Heel tandem defeated Miami of Ohio's Brindtha Ramasamy and Laura Rico in the title match, 6-3.
Crawley and Tran were scheduled to face each other in the singles finale with a wildcard entry into the 2021 ITA National Fall Championships on the line, however, both players felt ill and the match was postponed.
The match will be played at a later date, likely back in Chapel Hill to determine the champion.
An ITA Gold Level Event, the Milwaukee Tennis Classic features a 32-player singles draw, and a 16-team doubles draw. Men's and women's singles champions earn a wildcard entry into the 2021 ITA National Fall Championships, to be held November 4-7 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, California.
