Heels Dominate Day One Of Kitty Harrison Invite

CHAPEL HILL - The first day of the Kitty Harrison Invitational saw the host Tar Heels dominate both the singles and doubles brackets on Friday from the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
The long day of tennis began with opening-round doubles. Fiona Crawley and Anika Yarlagadda picked up a win in the Tar Bracket, while Kacie Harvey and Lindsay Zink did the same in the Heel Bracket.
Singles gobbled up most of the day with two rounds encompassing both the indoor and outdoor courts.
No. 35 Crawley and Zink both picked up a pair of wins in the Carolina Bracket. The best win of the day came from Zink, the freshman from Lancaster, Pa., who knocked off No. 43 Taylor Bridges of LSU, 6-4, 3-6, 10-3.
In the Blue Bracket, No. 88 Reilly Tran knocked off a pair of Tobacco Road rivals from Duke and Wake Forest, while No. 82 Elizabeth Scotty, who received a first-round bye, defeated Lucia Quiterio of Charlotte in the second round.
No. 78 Yarlagadda won twice in the Kenfield Bracket, including a second-round win over Duke's Ellie Coleman.
The second day of the tournament begins with doubles on Saturday at 9 a.m.
