
Menante Leads UNC To 14-Shot Lead At Williams Cup

Dylan Menante shot a second-round 2-under-par 70 and is one of four Tar Heels in the top 10 as the University of North Carolina extended its lead Saturday to 14 shots after 36 holes in the Williams Cup presented by STITCH Golf at the Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C.
Menante and David Ford are tied for third place in the individual standings at 1-under-par 143, Ryan Burnett is tied for sixth at even and Peter Fountain is tied for 10th at 1 over. Austin Greaser shot even-par today and is tied for 16th place.
Carolina shot 1-under 287 in the first round Friday to lead by six strokes. Saturday, UNC shot even-par 288, which was three strokes better than UNCW, which had the second-best round of the day and moved up into second place at 13 over par.
NC State is third overall at +14 with Houston and Louisville tied for fourth at 20 over.
Indiana's Drew Salyers (72-70) and NC State's Brandon Epstein (71-71) share the individual lead at 2-under 142, a stroke ahead of Menante and Ford.
Menante, one of only six players in the field under par today, made three birdies and no bogeys on the back nine. Ford was 3 over par through seven holes today, then made four consecutive birdies.
The final round is Sunday. The tournament is named in honor of former UNC men's basketball coach Roy Williams and his wife, Wanda, for their support of intercollegiate athletics, the University of North Carolina and the Tar Heel men's golf program.
