Wrestling Victorious Over Campbell 24-10 In Battle At Bragg

FORT BRAGG, N.C. – The No. 15 North Carolina wrestling team won seven matches in Friday's dual versus Campbell University on the way to defeating the Fighting Camels, 24-10, at Pope Airfield on Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, N.C. in the inaugural Battle at Bragg.Â

The event, organized by the United States Army, U.S. Army Recruiting and Campbell University, brought the Tar Heels to Fort Bragg for the dual with Campbell on Veteran's Day.Â

Carolina came out on top over the Fighting Camels with victories across weight classes in their first dual meet of the 2022-2023 season.Â

The Tar Heels were victorious at 125, 141, 149, 165, 174, 184 and 197 en route to the victory, lead by major decisions from Lachlan McNeil at 141, Nicholas Fea at 165 and Gavin Kane at 184.Â

"It was a great team effort today by our guys," said head coach Coleman Scott. "We were really impressed by the effort of our freshmen especially, who came out strong and were ready to go. Tonight showed us just how prepared we are for a great season, and I'm looking forward to it."Â

Carolina wrestling will turn their attention to the Michigan Wolverine on Sunday with Doubles on the Diamond, a special dual match held at the home of Carolina Baseball, Boshamer Stadium, at 3 p.m. in Chapel Hill. Admission to the event is free.
